A pair of early 20th-century Russian art publications. First. An issue of Zhar-Ptitsa, a literary and art magazine published by the Russian emigration from 1921 to 1926 in Berlin and Paris. This lot is issue 10 published in 1923. Circulation of 300 copies. Cover design by Natalia Goncharova. The magazine is richly illustrated in color with the late artworks of contemporary Russian artists. The texts are in German and Russian, typed in pre-reform Russian spelling. Zhar-ptitsa or Firebird is a magical creature from Slavic mythology, the captor of the bird is said to get his wishes fulfilled. Second. Monographic brochure about Andrei Ryabushkin by A.A. Rostislavov. Issue 4 from the Russian Artists series by Igor Grabar. Published by I. Knebel in Moscow, 1913. Andrei Ryabushkin, 1861 to 1904, was a Russian historical painter. Igor Grabar, 1871 to 1960, was a Russian Post-Impressionist painter, publisher, restorer and historian of art. Rare Antiquarian Librarian Books And Magazines For Collectors.
