ANTIQUE JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINT BY YOSHU CHIKANOBU
Toyohara Chikanobu, Japanese, 1838 to 1912, better known to his contemporaries as Yoshu Chikanobu, original antique Meiji era ukiyo e triptych color woodblock prints on paper, Chiyoda no On omote Mokuroku Military Practice. Chiyoda no On omote Mokuroku. A scene around Chiyoda Palace, where the Tokugawa Shogunate resides. Shogun is watching the military practice from a viewing platform on a small mound at Koganehara. Mt. Fuji is seen on the background. Signed in the plate, upper right. Red seals, lower left and right. Toyohara Chikanobu, better known to his contemporaries as Yoshu Chikanobu, was a Japanese painter and printmaker who was widely regarded as a prolific woodblock artist during the Meiji epoch.
