AN 18TH CENTURY RUSSIAN SILVER-MOUNTED ORTHODOX TRIPTYCH
A well-crafted triptych showing painted scenes of the life of Jesus, made in Russia in the 18th century. From left to right the panels show Jesus entering Jerusalem, Transfiguration, and lastly the Exaltation of the Cross. The paintings are set within a silver frame which is decoratively cut-out and engraved with foliate shapes on the outer panels and a bird set atop a crown on the central panel.
6 5/8 x 3 in., (16.7 x 7.7 cm.)
Condition: Near perfect condition with only minor, almost imperceptible scratches on some parts of the paintings.
