Germany > Prussia: Jewish silver calendar medal, 1804/5565, by Daniel Friedrich Loos; size: 44mm; weight: 19.25g. Obverse: shining sun in center with dates "1804" & "5565"+ 3 rings around with text & dates; title at top "Calender". Reverse: calendar with moon phase symbols, Jewsh holidays & Prussia's royal family (Friedrich Wilhelm III) birthdates below. Jewish calendar medals in Prussia are almost unknown and may have been issued in appreciation for the King's predecessor, Friedrich Wilhelm II, who instituted a series of reforms granting the Jews greater rights. In VF-EF with luster; slightly uneven planchet.
