An original spread from the Nuremberg Chronicle. Ink and paint on parchment. Folios CLXXIIII and CLXXV with hand-colored portraits of church ministers and a view of the Michaelsberg Abbey in Bamberg, Germany. Reversible frame, white mat. Liber Chronicarum, commonly known as the Nuremberg Chronicle, is the first printed history of the known world written by Hartmann Schedel, published in Nuremberg ca. 1493. Richly garnished with about 2000 woodcuts by Michael Wolgemut, Wilhelm Pleydenwurff, Albrecht Durer, including views of actual and imaginative cities and towns, battles, kings, and saints.
