A BRONZE BYZANTINE LAMP WITH TWO BURNERS, CA. 5TH-8TH CENTURY AD
A bronze lamp possibly of Byzantine design dating around CA 5th-8th Century AD. The lamp expresses an avian motif depicting a mother bird bringing food to her two babies. The two burners are represented on each baby bird, fed by oil which is added through a funnel into a reservoir within the mother bird's body. The lamp also has three holes (one on each wing and a third on the funnel) used for hanging the lamp.
