The Lodge Auction House is proud to present this Online Auction featuring the exquisite art from the collection of Katherine Langley. Known for her ABSTRACT and Religious art, Katherine Langley had a unique eye. This is a rare collection in which you can own her admired artwork. For more about the artist we have included her obituary below.

Katherine Langley exhibited her paintings at galleries in Niagara Falls, Buffalo, the Chautauqua Institute, the Allentown Art Festival and Lewiston Art Festival. In 1959, Langley won the prize "Best of Show" at the Albright-Knox Art gallery for her painting "Ancient Tomb."

The following is from Katherine Langley's obituary:

Katherine T. "Kitty" Wilgosz Langley, 97, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at home after a long illness. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, the surviving twin of Anna (Folga) and Joseph Wilgosz.. Katherine grew up in St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish of which she was a member until she married the late John "Jack" Langley at Our Lady of the Rosary Church on August 16, 1941. At that time, she joined the former Sacred Heart Church and attended there until it's closing in 2008. She had fond memories of her father who had a side interest in beekeeping and made the funeral and communion candles for St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. She remembered the special aroma of honey in the church.. Katherine was known for her abstract and her religious artwork. She produced several hundreds of works during a 60-year career which ended with blindness in 2001. She studied with artists, Ruth Gay Haven, Sam Russo, Peter Busa, Marcus Pratt et.al. at the Adult Education Center. Developing her own style of painting, she created images showing strong emotion. She exhibited her paintings at galleries in, Niagara Falls, Buffalo, the Chautauqua Institute and in Allentown and Lewiston Art Festivals. In 1959, Katherine won the prize "Best of Show" at the Albright-Knox Art gallery for her painting "Ancient Tomb". She was a member of the former Studio Group and the Niagara Council on the Arts.. Mrs. Langley was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed her flower garden which she designed and maintained. Katherine enjoyed classical music and Gregorian chant which she felt inspired her artwork..
