A RUSSIAN PAINTING OIL ON CANVAS BY VICTOR CANG
Allegorical painting by Viktor Cang (Russian, 20th-century) "Boldly comrades, in step ..." [Smelo tovarischi v nogu...], St. Petersburg, 1989. The canvas depicts Soviet leaders: Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, Nikita Khrushchev, and Leonid Brezhnev, going with a ram to the Moscow Kremlin. Scattered under their feet are Bibles, domes, and the remains of houses. Signed in Latin and dated lower left, also titled, signed, and dated by the artist on the reverse of the painting.
