TWO FRENCH LITHOGRAPHS BY ALFRED RENAUDIN

A set of two vintage hand colored gouache on a vellin type paper lithograph prints. Signed by E. Naudy aka Alfred Renaudin (French, 1866-1944). The plates show the traditional costumes of the County of Foix and County of Maine, two provinces of France. Framed. Circa the 1920s. Alfred Renaudin was a painter best known for his detailed plein-air landscapes of the Lorraine countryside. Renaudin began as an apprentice potter before studying drawing and painting at the School of Fine Arts in Nancy. He began to show at the Paris Salon in 1890 and to travel throughout the country and abroad, capturing dramatic natural light and shadow in his naturalistic artworks. His studio was partially destroyed by a bomb during World War II, and with much of his work now gone, he continued to work until his death in Lunéville, France.
