RUSSIAN STAGE DESIGN TEMPERA PAINTING BY DMITRIEV

Vladimir Vladimirovich Dmitriev, Russian Soviet, 1900 to 1948, tempera painting on paper depicting a stage design probably for The Tale of Tsar Saltan, an opera in four acts with a prologue by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. The libretto was written by Vladimir Belsky and is based on the 1831 poem of the same name by Aleksandr Pushkin. Signed with a monogram in Cyrillic and numbered N. 15 on the back. A paper label inscribed in German, W. W. Dmirtrijew, Deserved artist of the RSFSR, State Prize Winner. Matted. Provenance: Dr. Fischer Fine Art Auctions, Heilbronn, Germany, April 05, 2017, lot 199. Vladimir Dmitriev was a Russian Soviet theater artist, and painter. Honored Artist of the RSFSR. He subtly and accurately felt everyday life, stylistic fluctuations, and changes, organically connected everyday realities with a generalized environment. With color, layout, and details, he was able to create a directed psychological atmosphere. He was interested in the course of the director's thought, Dmitrievs proposals enriched the staging solution of the performance, and sometimes determined it. One of a kind artwork.
