JAPANESE MEIJI CHAMPLEVE ENAMEL BRONZE VASE, 1900
A very high quality antique Japanese champleve enamel bronze vase, the exterior is covered with a dark patina, carved with a geometric pattern and embellished with wide decorative borders showing polychrome floral motifs in blue, red, white and green colors made using the champleve enamel technique. Designed with two handles also decorated with champleve enamel motifs. Champleve is an enameling technique consisting of cutting away troughs or cells in a metal plate and filling the depressions with pulverized vitreous enamel. Dated circa 1900. Unmarked.
