ANTIQUE AMERICAN WOODEN REGULATOR A WALL CLOCK
An early 20th-century regulator wall clock. The clock has a solid wooden framework and a round dial with Arabic numerals. The glass casement of the clock has an inscription Regulator A. The golden chime is decorated with two grape leaves. Regulators were first developed in England around 1720 and were used as the standard of accuracy during repairs, synchronization, and manufacturing. Regulators became popular in America in the late 1800s, and by the 1920s American manufacturers started to display the word Regulator on the glass-front door of the clocks as a sign of heritage.
