An antique South Indian silver necklace with lingam box nayigalu or shivdhara amulet case with its original chain. Modeled as a sphere with two rectangles on its sides, and originally contained a stone amulet covered with various materials which are sacred to the Lingayatism sect. This is a neck amulet once worn by a wealthier lay member of the Lingayat sect in South India. Circa the early 20th century.
