ANTIQUE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX ICON IN 84 SILVER RIZA
An antique Russian Orthodox hand painted icon of Christ Pantocrator, the Lord Almighty, or Savior Jesus Christ. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. The icon features an embossed 84 silver riza or oklad, adorned with chased and engraved traditional detailed patterns. Inscribed lower to the center. Circa: mid to late 19th century. The icon of Jesus Christ the Almighty is one of the central images of the Christian iconography of the Savior. Marked with a standard Silver hallmark, a makers mark, and other Cyrillic marks.
