ANTIQUE RUSSIAN SILVER GEMSTONE CASE WITH COUNTER
An antique Russian silver box with a counting mechanism. The exterior of the box features intricate embellishments including an Imperial eagle set with diamonds and a central gemstone mounted on a gilt rocaille decoration, and a bird image on the opposite side with three windows for numbers. Upon opening the box, a mesmerizing mechanism is revealed, designed to count and record small items or units. Hallmarked with 88 Russian silver proof and assay marks, as well as hallmarks for the manufacturer. In the box. Circa the late 19th century. Total weight: 98.3 g.
