FRENCH LITHOGRAPHS AFTER SKETCH BY PABLO PICASSO
A lot of two lithographs on paper, Carnet de la Californie, after the the sketch. Executed as a sketchbook drawing during the middle 1950s and subsequently made available by Picasso for publication as a lithograph. This impression was printed in Paris in 1959 by Mourlot Frères, and issued in a sketchbook style portfolio entitled Carnet de la Californie. The first: a portrait of a woman after the original painting, Jacquelin, 1955, by Pablo Picasso, Spanish, 1881 to 1973. Inscribed, VII, and dated, upper left. The second depicts a genre scene in the artists studio. Framed. Pablo Picasso was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and theatre designer who spent most of his adult life in France. Regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, he is known for co founding the Cubist movement, the invention of constructed sculpture, the co invention of collage, and for the wide variety of styles that he helped develop and explore.
