ANTIQUE 18TH C JAPANESE EDO PERIOD WOODBLOCK PRINT
An antique Japanese print from the early Edo period, dates to the 18th century. The print is a sheet unfolded horizontally. On the left side there are two wooden buckets, an inscription in Japanese and a square red seal. On the right side, on a raised platform, an elderly woman is preparing food. Provenance: from the collection of Dr. Horacio Fabrega, Pittsburgh, PA. Ukiyo e is a genre of Japanese art that flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries. Its artists produced woodblock prints.
