SONIA DELAUNAY SIGNED ABSTRACT COLOR LITHOGRAPH TOTEM
Sonia Delaunay, a color lithograph print on paper. Titled Totem, 1970. The piece represents an abstract geometrical composition. Signed and dated in the lower right. Numbered 51 out of 75 in the lower left. Framed. Provenance: a well-preserved time capsule from the prestigious Decoration and Design Building in New York City, a renowned trade hub for interior designers. Sonia Delaunay, 1885 to 1979, was a Jewish-French artist and textile designer. Her innovative explorations of color and form were integral to the development of abstract art in the early 20th century. Initially inspired by quilt patterns, Delaunay eventually incorporated the stylistic concerns of Cubism, Fauvism, and Futurism into her bright, geometric paintings and prints. She variously dubbed her style Orphism or Simultaneism and focused on the possibilities of color combinations. In 1964, Delaunay became the first living female artist to have a retrospective exhibition at the Louvre. Collectible Modernist Graphic Art Prints.
