EGYPTIAN GOLD RING WITH LAPIS LAZULI SCARAB
Late Period to Ptolemaic, Ca. 664 - 30 BC. A lapis lazuli scarab with a flat underside, left undecorated. The top is carved with precise details, including the clypeus, prothorax, and elytra, defined by evenly incised, flowing lines. The scarab is mounted within a swivel mechanism of a gold ring with a D-shaped hoop formed from a round-section band. The hoop terminates in spherical finials encircled by thin gold wire.
