CHINESE QING DYNASTY BLUE AND WHITE CUP
Kangxi period, Qing Dynasty, Ca. AD 1661-1722.A delicately crafted underglaze blue and white cup with a thin walled body, depicting a scene from a Tang dynasty poem Song of Eight Drinking Immortals by the famous poet Du Fu. The scene shows the Chancellor Shizhi Zhuo, whose capacity for liquor was described to be immense. Size: 65mm x 45mm; Weight: 40gProvenance: British local private collection collection since 2000s, sold by Plakas Auction. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
