Lanfranco Rasponi (1914-1983) was an Italian writer, critic, and publicist. He is primarily known for his works about opera and opera singers, especially his book The Last Prima Donnas, which was published in 1982.
From the late 1940s to the early 1960s, Rasponi was a publicity agent for many opera singers as well as socialites and fancy restaurants in New York City.
The book, The Last Prima Donnas, is a collection of interviews the author conducted with the divas themselves. In some cases, the author had more than one occasion to meet the singers, and he even became friends with some. Most of the singers represented were born before World War I and shone on the stages in the 1920s and 1950s.
Unfortunately, many of the names are not so well known now. That makes this particular book all the more valuable, which will rediscover the names.
Victor Aronovich Duvidov (1932-2000) was a Russian graphic artist, painter, book illustrator, People's Artist of the Russian Federation.
