Tall African Dogon Carved Wooden Lidded Statue. Base Tag Reads: Dogon Stool Of Mali, Symbolic That Rulers Used Bodies Of Slaves Often As Seats, Normally Caryatid. Lid Tag Reads: Carved For The Priests Of The Dogon Of Mali, Were Made To Contain Meals Of Mutton And Donkey Meat, Eaten Ritually At Harvest Time, Priest Is Mounted On His Donkey On The Cover, Pattern On Barrel On Bowl Could Symbolize The Ripe Fields Of Millet.
