Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853-1890) After : Montmartre, Windmills and Allotments. Oil on canvas, signed in another hand lower left. Verso shows decorative stamps. Professionally framed.
In Paris, Van Gogh frequently painted the picturesque windmills on the hill of Montmartre. In his day, Montmartre was still a partly rural area with allotment gardens and farms.
Vincent van Gogh was a Post-Impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. In just over a decade he created about 2,100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings, most of them in the last two years of his life. They include landscapes and still lifes.
19.5 x 27.25 inches framed; 15.5 x 23.5 inches canvas.
Condition: Very good condition, heavy surface grime throughout ; the back of the canvas is very toned.
