Photographed as part of the annual Slam Dunk competition that takes place during the NBA's All-Star Weekend events in 1987. Beginning of the competition in the 1976 ABA All-Star Game in Denver, established as a competitor to the NBA League. The winner of the first competition in 1976, was Julius Irving [known as Dr. Jay] who jumped to the basket from the penalty line and 'dunked' the ball. It was the first time in basketball history that the world has watched a Dunk from the penalty line that far 3.60 meters from the basket height 3.05 meter. For years no other player has been able to make a similar jump, only more than ten years later in the 1987 Dunk competition, the legendary player Michael Jordan make a dunk from the penalty line that is considered impressive in the history of world basketball in general. For this dunk, Jordan won the perfect and maximum score of 50 points from the jury, thus defeating his opponent in the competition Dominic Wilkins. Although dozens of dunk competitions have been held over the years, to this day this jump of Jordan is considered the most amazing dunk in the history of world basketball.
