The Holy Land soil - a virtue for the resurrection of the dead - Designed packaging that has never been opened - Salomon printing

The Holy Land soil  - A designed box containing soil taken from Eretz Israel. Published by the Africa Central Committee, Jerusalem. Salomon printing press, early 20th century. A box full of ash which never opened.

On the front is a picture of Yad Avshalom on the Mount of Olives and verses dealing with the resurrection of the dead: "ונאמן אתה להחיות מתים", "כי רצו עבדיך את אבניה ואת עפרה יחוננו". ו"וכפר אדמתו עמו", The box was designed for the Africa Central Committee, and the Jews of the Diaspora who received the Palestine ash donated for it for the committee in Jerusalem.

The idea behind the box that specifically considers the land of the Land of Israel, and the quoted verses that link its land in the future resurrection: Jacob swore to Joseph not to bury him in Egypt but to bring him to the Land of Israel:"אל נא תקברני במצרים. ושכבתי עם אבותי ונשאתני ממצרים וקברתני בקבורתם" (Bereshit Ch. 47), Rashi explains why Jacob did not want to be buried in Egypt: "That the dead abroad are resurrected, in sorrow of Gilgul Mechilot".

The meaning of the term "Gilgul Mechilot" Appears in Midrash Rabbah (Parashat Tzav): "Rabbi Simon said: If so, did the Tzaddiks lose that they are buried abroad ?! no, But what G-d does - makes tunnels for them in the land, and makes them like these caves, and they roll and come, until they reach the Land of Israel, G-d gives them a spirit of life and they stand", That is, even those buried abroad will be resurrected when the time comes, but the resurrection itself will take place only in Eretz Israel, and all those buried abroad will have to roll in underground burrows until they come to Eretz Israel and there will be resurrected.

16x8x3 cm. A box full of ash. Never opened. Very good condition.
