¶10, ¶6, A-Z, AA-XX8, YY4; [32], 712 pp., 3 mapas; 290 mm. Same biding: facsimile engraved title-page; final leaves with wormholes on text.

FIRST EDITION, VERY RARE, of one of the most important documents in the history of the Portuguese Discoveries. The work does not need any presentation. We only note its rarity, quoting Diogo do Couto from D. Manuel: "The Decades of João de Barros, our natural (which, due to its great erudition, as well as the great deeds that its naturals wrote, are worthy of much esteem) so they were estimated from us, that there was no more than the first impression, that time has been so consumed, that I don't know if there are ten volumes in Portugal, and in India just one." [cf. D.Manuel, p. 289, Decada IV, part I, part xxxiii]

¶ Inocêncio, v.3, p. 321; Sabin, 3646; D. Manuel, 74
