U.S. AMERICAN FOOT ARTILLERY SWORD, MODEL 1832
Grip and cross guard is one piece made of brass. The blade is stamped with an eagle over "N.P. AMES, SPRINGFIELD" on one side and "UNITED STATES 1839 WS" on the reverse. Cross guard and scabbard mount are stamped with matching inspector's mark "MS". The original brass mounted leather scabbard only shows small scuff.
