SIOLENCE geht bewusst einen anderen Weg.
Die Kampagne inszenieren die Stille – jene Stille, in der Opfer gefangen sind, weil Gewalt ein Tabuthema ist. Eine Stille, der sie nicht entkommen. Und eine Stille, die Gewalt fördert. Denn das Schweigen der Gesellschaft ermöglicht, dass die Gewaltspirale sich immer weiter- und weiterdreht. Das Projekt SIOLENCE von Soroptimist International Österreich, konzipiert von BBDO Wien und fotografisch einfühlsam umgesetzt von der Elfie Semotan, fängt diese beklemmende Stille ein. Doch es bleibt nicht dabei: In intimen Interviews, geführt vom Team der BBDO Wien in Zusammenarbeit mit Cosmix Media, brechen die sieben betroffenen Frauen auch zum ersten Mal in aller Öffentlichkeit ihr Schweigen. In eindrucksvoll mutiger Weise sprechen sie über ihre Erlebnisse, ihre Angst, ihre Gefühle, das mit der Gewalt Alleinsein. Und brechen genau damit die Stille und somit auch die Gewaltspirale. Kein Stillschweigen, sondern ein Aufruf, hinzuschauen und hinzuhören, das ist Siolence. Denn Gewalt an Frauen darf weder akzeptiert noch verschwiegen werden.

Over time, art has engaged with violence in our society in many different ways—especially violence against girls and women: With screams, sorrow, scars, blood, bruises, shattered objects, and torn clothing...
SIOLENCE deliberately takes a different approach.
The campaign stages silence—the silence in which victims are trapped because violence is a taboo subject. A silence they cannot escape. And a silence that enables violence. Because society’s silence allows the spiral of violence to keep turning, over and over again. The SIOLENCE project by Soroptimist International Austria, conceived by BBDO Vienna and sensitively captured in photographs by Elfifie Semotan, portrays this oppressive silence. But it does not stop there: In intimate interviews, conducted by the BBDO Vienna team in collaboration with Cosmix Media, seven affected women break their silence in public for the very fifirst time. With remarkable courage, they speak about their experiences, their fear, their emotions, and the isolation that comes with violence. And by doing so, they shatter the silence—and with it, the cycle of violence. No more silence—SIOLENCE is a call to see, to listen, to act. Because violence against women must neither be accepted nor ignored.
