Viola purchased by Rebbe Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, Rebbe Rayatz of Lubavitch, as gift to his three daughters, Rebbetzin Chana Gurary, Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson, and Rebbetzin Shaina Horenstein.
Letter of authenticity enclosed (handwritten note, in English), signed in Hebrew by Rebbetzin Chanah Gurary (1899-1991), eldest daughter of Rebbe Rayatz: "I hereby gift... the viola that my father bought for my sisters and I while in Germany. We played on this viola for most of our childhood."
Letter of authenticity dated 12 December, 1989.
64 cm. Minor abrasions and fractures. Missing tuning pegs, bridge and strings. Without the bow.
