Collection of Documents - Polish-Jewish Refugee in Shanghai, 1940s
Collection of documents and certificates belonging to Avraham Moshe Trompoler. China (and other locations), ca.1943-1949. Hebrew, English and Chinese.
Trompoler, born in Warsaw in 1910, arrived in Shanghai from Kobe, Japan, as a Polish war refugee in August 1941; was active in "HaMizrahi" movement and was the secretary of the movement in Shanghai, treasurer of "Va'ad HaShekalim HaArtzi" and secretary of the central committee for the elections to the 22nd Zionist Congress, active in the Jewish Agency (in this capacity assisted immigration efforts to Eretz Israel). In addition he worked as an electrician for UNRRA.
The collection includes: "certificate" with visa ink stamps to Japan and China; certificate of temporary residence in Japan; documents from the committee of "Jewish Ashkenazi Congregation in Shanghai"; certificate from the Polish Residents Association in China (1943); document certifying allocating an apartment for Trompoler, on behalf of Office for the Shanghai Stateless Refugee Affairs, and some other documents. Lot of about 20 documents of the 1940s and some other (later) documents. Sizes and conditions vary.
