"State Basic Ordinance, No. 1, for 1948". People's Directorate, Justice Department. "Confidential, Seventh Proposal, " May 14, 1948. The "State Basic Ordinance" is the first legal document of the State of Israel, which was established by the People's Council and the People's Administration a few hours before the declaration of independence
"פקודת יסוד המדינה, מס' 1, לשנת 1948". מנהלת העם, מחלקת המשפטים. "סודי, הצעה שביעית", 14 במאי 1948.
"פקודת יסוד המדינה" הינו המסמך המשפטי הראשון של מדינת ישראל, אשר נקבע בידי מועצת העם ומנהלת העם שעות ספורות לפני הכרזת העצמאות. המסמך נוסח בפגישה שנערכה בבית קק"ל בתל-אביב (אותה פגישה בה הוחלט על הקמת מדינת ישראל ועל נוסח מגילת העצמאות), והוא מסדיר את פעילותן של שלוש הרשויות במדינה החדשה: "השלטון" (הרשות המבצעת), "החקיקה" (הרשות המחוקקת) ו"המשפט" (הרשות השופטת). כמו כן, מתייחס המסמך להקמת בתי משפט, משטרה, תקציבים ונושאים נוספים.
