שטרות הדוגמה הם שטרות שמוטבע עליהם הכיתוב SPECIMEN בדיו אדום, אשר הודפסו בכל פעם שיצאה סדרה חדשה של שטרות. בנק ישראל שולח שטרות אלו לבנקים מרכזיים של מדינות שמצויות בקשרים מסחריים עם ישראל או שיש להן תיירות נכנסת מישראל, כדי שיכירו את השטרות ויוכלו לזהות חשד לזיוף.
