ANDREA GRIMINELLI - PHOTO WITH AUTOGRAPH
Andrea Griminelli (Correggio, December 13, 1959) is an Italian flautist.
He began studying the instrument at the age of ten; he was a student of Jean-Pierre Rampal and James Galway. He began a concert career very early that took him to the most famous theaters in the world, engaged with numerous prestigious orchestras and conductors.
At the end of the 70s he collaborated with the free radio of his city, Radio Attiva.
In 1984 he performed in Luciano Pavarotti in Concert at the Chicago Opera.
His greatest fame, however, is linked to the performances with Luciano Pavarotti that began in 1984 at Madison Square Garden in New York with whom he began a collaboration in the following years such as in the concerts at London's Hyde Park in 1990, at New York's Central Park in 1993, at the Eiffel Tower in Paris and in Moscow's Red Square in which classical music was combined with rock and pop music.
In 1985 he held a concert with pianist Jean-Marc Luisada at the Grand Théâtre in Geneva.
In 1991 he performed 6 Concertos for flute and string orchestra by Antonio Vivaldi conducted by René Clemencic at the Teatro Accademico in Castelfranco Veneto for the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
In 1991 the President of the Republic awarded him the honor of Cavaliere and in 2003 that of Ufficiale al merito della Repubblica Italiana.
In 1992 he performed the Suite n. 2 in B minor. BWV 1067 for flute and strings by Johann Sebastian Bach with I Solisti Veneti conducted by Claudio Scimone at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
In 2001 he released the album Andrea Griminelli's Cinema Italiano: A New Interpretation Of Italian Film Music where the music, rearranged by Bacalov and Morricone, is reinterpreted by him with Sting, Luciano Pavarotti, Lucio Dalla, Deborah Harry and Filippa Giordano.
His concert activity continues very lively; it is accompanied by the commitment of president of the "Achille Peri" Music Institute of Reggio Emilia since 2007 and since 2008 that of President of the "Claudio Merulo" Music Institute of Castelnuovo Monti (R.E.).
In 2008 he played in the concert in Petra (Jordan) that was broadcast on Retequattro.
In 2011 he took part in the One Night in Central Park concert by Andrea Bocelli in front of 70,000 people.
On April 23, 2014, he was a guest at Zucchero Fornaciari's concert-event at Madison Square Garden in New York, part of the Americana Tour, followed by 5,000 spectators and featuring the participation of special guests such as Sting, Elisa, Jovanotti, Fher dei Maná, Chris Botti, Sam Moore, Fiorella Mannoia, Irene Fornaciari and a gospel choir [2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. For the occasion, he accompanied the singer from Emilia on the notes of Miserere. On the fourth evening of Sanremo 2019, together with the violinist Alessandro Quarta, he accompanied the group Il Volo on the notes of the song Musica che resta. On November 20 of the same year, he organized the Griminelli & Friends charity concert in Reggio Emilia for his sixtieth birthday, with guests Zucchero Fornaciari, Sting and other colleagues.
