Antony and Cleopatra D6728 - Large - Royal Doulton Character Jug
Black, grey, brown coloration.
Marcus Antonius (83 - 30 B.C.) was a skilled soldier and co-ruler of Rome with Caesar's nephew Octavian from 43 to 32 B.C. Cleopatra (68 - 30 B.C.) well known for her charm and beauty, was Queen of Egypt and an ally and lover of Julius Caesar. In 41 BC, Anthony and Cleopatra met and fell in love, marrying in 37 B.C. The jugs were issued in 1985 in a limited edition of 9,500 pieces. Series: The Star - Crossed Lovers Collection. (Two-faced jug.) Royal Doulton backstamp.
