After George and Martin of Cluj-Napoca, Saint George
2nd half 19th c., unsigned, bronze light brown patinated, finely chiselled and richly detailed depiction of the mounted George, the dragon slayer, in battle with the lindworm, on a plinth richly decorated with rocks and floralisms, mounted on a strongly fluted, ebonised wooden base, reins and flag not quite complete, slight signs of age, h bronze ca. 28 cm, h overall 36,5 cm. Artist's info: the brothers of Cluj-Napoca were well-known sculptors in Europe from the 2nd half of the 14th century, little is known of the sons of a painter who came from Transylvania and not all monumental works have survived, what has survived is in the Gothic style with early hints of the Renaissance.
