Taino Amulets of Shell & Manatee Bone (2)
These are both from Southern Puerto Rico. The elongated one is of manatee bone, a rather primitive carving with lower drill hole. The elongated one is of manatee bone, a rather primitive carving with lower drill hole. The other, much earlier C. 800-1000 AD, a carved shell example, a Zemi head, the reverse of this, most interesting with its potential to incorporate numerous strands of beads. Both in solid condition. 2 7/8" x 3/4" and 2 1/4" x 1 3/8" thick
