Of bold and exuberant form, likely for communal use or implement of a Cacique or his high priest. A ceremonial pestle, under custody and care of a high born, dates late 2nd to 3rd phase from around 1100-1400 A.D. Of a fine tight grained dense and compact, exotic seabed stone of creamy yellow tone with bold spreading mushroom from business end and exceptional Zemi head with full humanoid figure, clutching and draped over an owl head. Fine condition, museum grade. 8 3/4" H x 4 1/2" widest
