Two Volumes of machzor Sha'ar bat Rabim with Ladino - Venice, 1714-1715
Two volumes containing part of Machzor Sha'ar bat Rabim "with the Hadrat Kodesh commentary according to the custom of the Ashkenazim", a Machzor that was printed, according to the title page, by the request of the Italian communities of Venice, Padua, Verona, Mantova, Goricia and more. These communities promised to purchase the printed copies. The Machzor was printed and sold Kuntres-after-Kuntres.
These are two volumes.
Volume I: containing the second part of the first section with Pirkei Avot with a Ladino commentary, prayers of Shavu'ot, Tisha BeAv with Eicha, Yotzer for Shabbat Bachamu and more. On the colophon - printed in Venice, 1714. 229-360 leaves.
Volume II: containing the first part of the second section with the prayers for Sabbath, Selichot for the month of Elul and Asseret Yemei Teshuva, Selichtot fot the eve of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, the prayers for Rosh Hashana, Yotzer for Shabbat Teshuva, ending with Seder Erev Yom Kippur before the Kol Nidrei prayer. On the colophon - printed in Venice, 1715. 197 leaves. With the engraved title page. Faded gilt edges.
In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection.
Fine copy with wide margins. Healthy paper. Candle drops on Leil Tisha BeAv. The spine of volume II is missing. Stains. Moth damage in some places. Fair-good overall condition.
In volume I, corrections and glosses in Italian script on the margins of the sheet. On the upper part of the title page of volume II, an Italian signature "הצעיר פת"י".
