Sefer Aruch HaKatzur [HaAruch HaKatzar] - Krakow, 1592 Copy of Rabbi Moshe Lvov Av Beit Din of Trier - Ancient Glosses

Sefer Aruch HaKatzur "authored by one of the Kadmonim who, in his modesty, did not note his name ... printed here in Krakow by Yitzchak ben Rabbi Aharon of Prostitz". 1592. 36, [47] leaves. Mispagination. Moth damage, mainly to the first and last leaves. Stains and moth perforations. Except for this, good overall condition. Simple fabric binding. Some blemishes to text. Ancient glosses handwritten by two writers.

On the title page, an ancient signature (which also appears later along several leaves): "הק' דוד בלא"א כהר"ר יצחק ש"ץ ונאמן פה קרייסלום... תנ"ט לפ"ק". An additional signature: "הק' משה לבוב תקכ"א?" - the handwritten signature of Rabbi Avraham Moshe Lvov (passed away in 1788) Av Beit Din of Trier (Trèves, Germany, one of the most ancient Jewish communities of Germany). Succeeded his father, Rabbi Yehoshua Heshil (author of Pnei Levenah, who was involved in the affair of the Gett of Kliva) as Rav of the town and held the position for 22 years.
