Has Never Been Seen - Sacred Copy which was Studied by the Admor Rabbi Yom Tov Netil, a Disciple of the Chozeh of Lublin: Or HaChaim Hakadosh on the Torah Section II - First Edition in Itself, Zholkav 1799

Or HaChaim on the Torah, the monumental work by Rabbeinu Chaim Ben Atar. Sections: Vayikra, Bamidbar and Devarin, a separate title page for each Chumash. Third edition of Rabbeinu's basic book and the first edition that was printed separately and was not added to the Chamisha Chumshei Torah - Zholkva, 1799. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection.

Fine new binding. Tears and folds to the corners of the leaves/ Moth perforations and some damage. Stains. Most of the book is in good condition.

On the flyleaf, ancient ownership notations:

1. "הספר אור החיים הלז שייך... המה"ג [המאור הגדול] מו"ה יו"ט נעטיל חופ"ק לובלין... אבד"ק ווינאווי יצ"ו" רישום (apparently handwritten by his son, see below) indicating the copy was owned by the Admor Rabbi Yom Tov Netil, Av Beit Din of Tchechov and Rosh Av Beit Din of Lublin. Sefer Or haChaim Hakadosh was considered a basic book by Chassidim since the Besht. Extremely rare. Items belonging to Rabbeinu have not been seen in auctions and only a few, if at all, have survived.

The Admor Rabbi Yom Tov Netil (passed away in 1817) , Av Beit Din of Tchechov and later, Rosh Av Beit Din of Lublin. A leading disicple of the Chozeh of Lublin. Was a famed Gaon and wonder-wroker. Author of the Chssidic book Tehor Enayim on the Torah and the Shas. His books were approbated by leading rabbis, who greatly praised him.

2. "נחמיה בהרב... מו' יו"ט נעטיל ני"ו אבד"ק ווינאווי" - his son, Rabbi Nechemya of Zamoshtz.

3. "...משה שטערן..."

On the secondary flyleaf, a notation: "...שיך להרכוש הנגיד מו" יצחק אהרן שטערין ני"ו".

On the first title page:  "איתמר דוד לאנדמאן ירושה".

On the back flyleaf, a lengthy notation that has not been studied. Possibly by Rabbeinu? We had no other script by him to compare to.
