The First in America: Chafetz Chaim Published by the Author's Son-in-Law Rabbi Menachem Mendel Zaks - New York, 1944

Sefer Chafetz Chaim by Rabbeinu Rabbi Yisrael Meir of Radin, who was known as the Chofetz Chaim. Published by his son-in-law Rabbi Menachem Mendel Yosef Zaks, previously Ram at the Chofetz Chaim Yeshiva of Radin. The first edition that was published in New York -  Scholsinger Brothers Press, New York, 1944. 235, IV pp. 


Illustrated half-title with a dedication and blessing to the philanthropist Avraham Pesach and his sons, who donated to the distribution of the Chofetz Chaim's books already in his lifetime. Then, some words by the publisher explaining the virtue of the book and its novelty. Then, the format of the title page of the first edition followed by the present title page. 


Original binding, unravelled and slightly loose. Fine wide margins. Fine copy in good condition.
