Первое издание. История стойкой обороны во время первой мировой войны крепости Ивангород, написанная непосредственным и основным участником событий Алексеем Владимировичем Фон-Шварцем (1874-1953) — генерал-лейтенант, эмигрант. Окончил Николаевское инженерное училище и Николаевскую инженерную академию. Участник обороны Порт-Артура во время русско-японской войны. Георгиевский кавалер. В 1914 г. назначен комендантом крепости Ивангород, за успешную оборону которой произведен в генерал-майоры. В 1916 г. начальник Трапезундского укрепрайона на Кавказском фронте. В 1919 г. во время французской оккупации Одессы назначен генерал-губернатором Одессы и командующим русскими войсками в Одесском районе. Эвакуировался из Одессы вместе с французами. Недолго жил в Италии, после чего переехал в Аргентину. Читал лекции в качестве профессора в аргентинской академии Генерального штаба и Высшей технической академии. Автор многих научных работ по фортификации.
