В составных переплетах с золотым тиснением на корешке. Корешки с бинтами. Уменьшенный формат 170х110 мм.
В целом хорошее состояние. Потертости переплетов; края и углы сбиты. Небольшие утраты внешнего покрытия переплетов. Бумага немного покороблена. Замятия уголков некоторых страниц. На страницах встречаются загрязнения, пятна от влаги, мелкие надрывы. Том 1. Магазинный штамп и пометы на нахзаце. Тома 1, 3. Владельческие пометы карандашом на свободных листах форзацах. Трещина в блоке. Том 3. Владельческие пометы карандашом на страницах. Страницы 709-742 частично отходят от блока. Сквозной прокол и надрыв на нижнем крае страниц 33-126.
Издание вышло в знаменитой серии «Полное собрание сочинений русских авторов» издателя А. Смирдина и является пятым по счету собранием сочинений Н.М. Карамзина. Том первый включает его знаменитые стихотворения и исторические статьи, второй том – «Письма русского путешественника» и третий том – самые известные повести писателя, статьи и письма.
