Champion Sno Liner Racing Sled Circa. 1950's
For your consideration is this circa. 1950's Champion Sno Liner Racing Sled. Champion sleds were manufactured in Kalamazoo, Michigan by the Kalamazoo Sled Company from 1894 to about 1972. Prior to the 1894 reorganisation, the company had produced wooden components for buggies. By 1905, eleven years after switching to manufacturing sleds, the Kalamazoo Sled Company was the largest manufacturer of children's sleds in the world. The sled offered today was made in the 1950's. The sled features wood and metal construction; a slat board body with red steel runners, wood steering handle, and polished metal trim and tube frame for reinforcement. The middle wooden slat shows most of its original red paint. "Champion Sno Liner" can just be made out as most of the paint has been rubbed off; similarly the middle portion of Kalamazoo's round logo is rubbed out. The underside of the sled has two manufacturing stamps, "114" stamped twice; and a name, "Stubbs", written in sharpie. Aside from the aforementioned rubbed off paint due to use, the sled is in very good structural and mechanical condition. It measures 22.5" wide x 54.5" long x 6.25" high.
