Hudson River School Style Adolescent Boy Portrait
Available now for bidding is a folk art portrait of a young adolescent boy, wearing a dress, and clutching a small bouquet of flowers. The portrait follows the "Hudson River School" style of painting, which was a mid-19th century art movement, typically depicting landscape scenes, but often showing the coexistence between humans and nature. Following the time line of the artistic style, the boy shown in the portrait is also adorned in period garb. Young children of the mid-late 1800's were clothed in dresses. The painting shows excellent detail, and evidence of age. The painting is in good condition overall. The piece measures 19" x 27 1/2".
