OstLicht Camera Auction Spring 2023
By OstLicht Camera Auction
Jun 1, 2023
OstLicht Gallery, Absberggasse 27, 1100 Wien, Österreich, Austria

We are pleased to be able to present the camera auction on June 1, 2023 at 2 p.m. in OstLicht, gallery for photography. 1991 was the year of birth of the first Leica shop worldwide, in 2001 my team and I started the WestLicht auction house in Vienna. After 34 successful auctions with countless world record prices for cameras, I handed the camera auctions over to a group, also to concentrate on the WestLicht Photo and Camera Museum, the OstLicht Photo Gallery and the OstLicht Photo Auctions. However, when I was recently offered a private lover's fantastic collection, I couldn't resist the temptation. Especially since this man acquired most of the pieces he collected from me over the course of many years and always attached great importance to perfect condition and originality. The result is a collection that we are now offering with great pleasure in this auction. The traditional OstLicht Photo Auction begins on June 2 at 5 p.m. CEST. We cordially invite you to come to Vienna or to participate as a long-distance bidder. Our long-standing auctioneer Niki Schauerhuber and the team look forward to welcoming you.

In the end only 42 cameras were produced from 1945-1947 and about seven are known to exist, this example is the only camera which came up with a Xenar 2.8/5cm lens.
