OstLicht Camera Auction Spring 2023
By OstLicht Camera Auction
Jun 1, 2023
OstLicht Gallery, Absberggasse 27, 1100 Wien, Österreich, Austria

We are pleased to be able to present the camera auction on June 1, 2023 at 2 p.m. in OstLicht, gallery for photography. 1991 was the year of birth of the first Leica shop worldwide, in 2001 my team and I started the WestLicht auction house in Vienna. After 34 successful auctions with countless world record prices for cameras, I handed the camera auctions over to a group, also to concentrate on the WestLicht Photo and Camera Museum, the OstLicht Photo Gallery and the OstLicht Photo Auctions. However, when I was recently offered a private lover's fantastic collection, I couldn't resist the temptation. Especially since this man acquired most of the pieces he collected from me over the course of many years and always attached great importance to perfect condition and originality. The result is a collection that we are now offering with great pleasure in this auction. The traditional OstLicht Photo Auction begins on June 2 at 5 p.m. CEST. We cordially invite you to come to Vienna or to participate as a long-distance bidder. Our long-standing auctioneer Niki Schauerhuber and the team look forward to welcoming you.

Leica M3 Olive Green 'Bunderwehreigentum'

SN: 1206976
Year/Baujahr: 1968
Condition/Zustand: B/A

English

One of the very last M3 cameras ever produced. After the last chrome series in 1967, Leica produced 38 olive green cameras (nos. 1206962 - 1206999) in 1968 without lens lock release guard for the German Bundeswehr. Unlikely to the earlier green M3 cameras these few and last M3 cameras were engraved 'Bundeswehreigentum'. The offered camera no.1206976 is in beautiful, complete original and working condition, still with untouched L-seal and the Leitz service card for camera no.1206980. It comes with a mint Elmar 2.8/50mm no.2188831, which is not engraved, but was part of the outfit. (With a copy of the invoice of VEBEG in Frankfurt, when the outfit was sold in 2001), Leica-Meter MC no.80348 engraved 'Bundeseigentum 12-1215608' with olive-green leather case, mint olive green outfit case stamped 'Bundeseigentum'.

Deutsch
