Alexey Afanasievich Kozlov (1923 - 2011)

was a Soviet painter. Honored Artist of Russia. He was one of the founders of the Ryazan Art College and taught there for 34 years. The veteran, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, despite the loss of his right hand, was a true professional in his field, perfectly mastered the brush and taught this to students.
After the war, in 1949, he graduated from the Kalinin Moscow Art College, then the Moscow Polygraphic Institute (1956), and worked in various cities. Later he moved to Ryazan. His portraits are characterized by imagery, an attempt to penetrate into the inner world of a person, to share his attitude with the viewer. A warm, indescribable atmosphere is felt in the still lifes. But Alexey Afanasyevich's favorite genre is landscape.
