The diptych.Birshtein Max Avadievich (1914, Kiev – 2000, Tarusa).
He studied at the Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov (1935-1942) under I.E. Grabar, G. Shegal, D. Mochalsky. He was influenced by R. R. Falk. Participant of exhibitions since 1939. Author of portraits, landscapes, still lifes, genre scenes from the life of the Russian North in the 1950s - 1960s (in 1945-1954 he traveled to the White and Barents Seas, the Northern Dvina, the Malozemelskaya Tundra, and Novaya Zemlya). In 1972, he was awarded the prize of the All-Union competition of the Union of Artists of the USSR "My Contemporary". In 1975 and 1978 he received diplomas of the Moscow Art Museum "For the best work of the year". In 1999, he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts. In 1968, he participated in exhibitions of Soviet artists in Poland, Romania, England, Holland, Spain, Senegal, France, the USA, Germany and Japan. He had a solo exhibition in West Berlin in 1982, in Moscow in 1984, and participated in the Sotheby's exhibition in 1995. In 1995, a retrospective solo exhibition "The Artist's World" was held (Central House of Artists, Moscow).
