Letter of consent from Maran Posak Hador HaGrash Wazner owner of the Halevi tribe Zatzuk'l - 1976
A long letter of consent and shrouded in antiquity, signed by Maran Posak Hador, Rabbi Shmuel Halevi Wazner Zatzukal owner of the 'Shabt Halevi' for a pamphlet on the importance of speaking in the 'Yiddish' language.
Among the things Maran Zatzuk'l writes that even if there are institutions in the Land of Israel that cannot maintain the Yiddish language, it is "in any case, because our eyes see that the Torah keepers and the Torah Rabbis still speak it and the yeshivas of the Knesset manage to establish the Torah precisely in the language of our ancestors The above - and it is precisely in our time that the fence between those with whom we are not allowed to connect is getting stronger and it is the language of the heart that the tzaddiks of the ages spoke..."
Maran HaGaon Rabbi Shmuel Halevi Wazner (1933 - 1955) was one of the greats of the last generation, rabbi of the 'Zikhron Mai' neighborhood in Bnei Brak and head of the 'Hachmi Lublin' yeshiva. He was known as one of the most prominent transgressors of the tradition of halachic ruling in the last generation.
Our Rabbi was born in Vienna to his father, Rabbi Yosef Zvi, and his mother, M. Rachel, about whom it is said that she stood a great test and refused a profession that had much publicity and fame because it was against the rules of Halacha.
As a young man, he studied with the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel David Onga of Neutra and with the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Elimelech Kahane of Ongwar and then was accepted into the yeshiva of the Gaon Rabbi Meir Shapira of Lublin, where he crouched in the shade and the shadow of the Overseer Rabbi Shimon Mazzeilhov, and rose to great heights in the ways of the Torah and reverence.
After his marriage and the birth of his eldest son, our Rebbe immigrated to the Land of Israel and lived in Jerusalem YAHK. Here he studied with Maharetz Dushinskya and with Rabbi Mateflik, with whom he also engaged in the 'use of sages' and received from him the ways of the ruling. After a while he was appointed a judge in the Badz of the 'Eda Haredi' and a rabbi of the 'Kerem Avraham' neighborhood.
In the year 2017 Maran Chazua suggested to Rabbi Yaakov Halperin that he invite our rabbi to serve as rabbi of the 'Zikhron Meir' neighborhood in Bnei Brak, our rabbi accepted the invitation and with the encouragement of Chazua Rabbi Mechabin and the Garaz Meltzer, established his yeshiva 'Hachmi Lublin' in the neighborhood, He also established a courthouse and a teaching house.
Our Rabbi's name became known and most famous in the field of halachic ruling, thousands of questioners from all over the world came to him asking him to show them the path they should follow and the judgment they should make. He founded a generation of distinguished halachic judges who serve today as the greatest rabbis and shivs in the country.
At the same time, his name blossomed as a genius, righteous and holy, over the years a community of students and admirers was founded around him called 'Shevat HaLevi Community' - named after his famous series of books, the community flourished and developed and took root in many places in Israel and abroad.
He rarely even avoided engaging in political issues, but on the other hand, he assumed many public positions, when, among other things, he served as the president of the yeshiva committee, the chairman of the rabbinical committee of 'Eyes of Salvation', the president and founder of the charity funds 'Koft Ha'ir' and the 'Vad rabbinim' and more.
